# Shipping can't be calculated and checkout won't proceed

> If shipping can't be calculated for an address, check your store's shipping zone and rates for Japan.

## The message customers see

When a customer clicks the checkout button on the allocation screen, a message like this may appear and checkout won't open.

> 「配送先:山田　太郎」への送料を計算できませんでした。住所（郵便番号・都道府県）を確認してください。配送できない地域の可能性もあります

It means: "Shipping to 配送先:山田　太郎 couldn't be calculated. Check the address (postal code and prefecture). The area may not be shippable."

MultiGifts calculates shipping for each address from your store's shipping rates. If shipping can't be calculated for an address, it stops before checkout so the order isn't placed without shipping.

## What to check

**1. Is there a shipping zone for Japan?**

In the Shopify admin, go to **Settings** → **Shipping and delivery** and check that your products' shipping profile has a shipping zone that includes Japan (or the recipient's prefecture).

**2. Does the zone have a rate?**

Check that the shipping zone has at least one shipping rate. If your rates have conditions (weight, order price and so on), orders that don't meet them may get no rate.

**3. The product's shipping profile**

If it only happens with certain products, check that the shipping profile those products belong to also has a shipping zone and rate for Japan.

**4. The recipient's address**

Ask the customer to check the postal code and prefecture of the address named in the message. If you've set areas you don't ship to, shipping can't be calculated for addresses there.

## If the message asks to try again later

If the message says shipping couldn't be calculated and to try again later (送料を計算できませんでした。時間をおいてもう一度お試しください), shipping calculation was temporarily unavailable. Wait a moment and click the checkout button again.

> Addresses that only receive items that don't require shipping (such as digital products) aren't charged shipping.
