# Getting started

> What llms.txt is for, what the app does, pricing, and why we built it.

## What is llms.txt?

**llms.txt** is a convention proposed in 2024 that helps AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude read the contents of a website correctly and efficiently.

## Why it matters

The pages we look at every day are laid out for people to read, not for AI to parse.

Placing an llms.txt file on your site lets you "**hand AI the structure and a list of your data, so it can read your site like a sitemap**".

## What the app does

Generates an llms.txt file in one click.

* Collections
  * Collection name
  * Description
* Products
  * Product name
  * Product description
  * Product price (the price a customer actually pays)
  * Product tags
* Pages
  * Page name
  * Body
* Blog articles
  * Article name
  * Body

This information is submitted.

<Note>
  On the Pro plan you can mark content as "**do not send this data to AI**".

  Example uses: limited-release products, products for a specific customer tier.

## Problems it solves

* AI optimization for site search

Sending your store's information to LLMs makes it more likely to be suggested during a conversation with AI.

## Why we built it

Buying products through AI is not far off. We built this app because there was no affordable, well-suited Japanese service for Shopify merchants preparing for that shift.
